Last Summer me and my friends had a lot of drama in the group. We ended up splitting up because of the drama. It was mainly between two people and everyone chose a side and stuck with it.

The main drama was the fake lies. One of our “friends” would tell other people gossip about us and try and turn them against us because she was fake. When around us she would say all these nice things about us and make us feel good about ourselves, but around other people she would spread fake news, and now our relationship is close to none because of it. Now when we see each other in the hallways its either an awkward stare or a death look. To be honest I don’t think I would change our relationship we have now because I don’t want to be friends with a person who would do that to me and my friends.

When it comes to school, some days I get really happy to go and other days not so much. I’ve been doing pretty well in school, except for Spanish 2-H. Learning a new language is harder than I thought.

One of my best subjects in school right now is actually Chemistry. I have an eighty-nine and I’m super proud of that. On the other hand there’s Spanish. I have a seventy-two and I’m still passing but its stressful to memorize all these terms and take a test over it. To overcome the struggles of Spanish, I’ve been studying every night to hopefully get it on the test. I liked reading Into The Wild for the first half and then it got stressful to keep up with at the end because of the amount of homework I had in other classes. Bellwork I can actually do well because we go over it in class and I’ve been learning a lot from it. About four years ago I joined choir and I am so thankful that I did. I am having the time of my life with all of the things we get to do outside of school. At the choir lock-in we got to stay over night at the school and got to hangout with friends throughout the whole time. I’ve been taking a medical class and been wanting to join the medical field when I’m older. I am thinking about going to Blinn for two years and then getting a job as an X-Ray tech like my mom does right now. She’s been working at the same place since I was born and is now the head X-Ray tech.

I remember when I was four years old, me and my dad would read Scooby-Doo Curse of the Lake Monster, every night because I loved it so much.

When I was little I did not read much, but when I did I would read for hours. One day me and my dad were reading the book and I remember this joke Shaggy told. He said “Look at that van! It’s purple, so it must be the Daphne van.” I don’t know why I found that so funny as a kid but I did. In the story “the gang” go out and try and solve the mystery of the Lake Monster, who had been scaring people for a while. They went around, trying to get hints from people, on the mystery. Eventually, just like in every Scooby-Doo book/movie, they use Scooby and Shaggy for bait to try and capture him with Fred’s trap. It worked! They caught the bad guy and took off the costume. I think Scooby-Doo is the reason I like reading mystery books. The pictures also gave so much context to me when I was little, sometimes I would just go off the pictures in the book, which is what my sister does now that she’s six. I still have the copy of the book and I read it to her while she looks at the pictures.

This is the blog i’m going to use for English 2-Honors. I will write here at least once every other week. I’m super excited to be able to write here and develop my skills as a writer.

I first started doing gymnastics when I was 7 years old. It started as a one night a week event for fun. As I got older, it became more competitive and the coaches became tougher on how I learned to do flips and tricks. By my 8th grade year I was able to do a lot of tricks on all six events. On the floor I was able to do a back-handspring into a back full, and was one of my strongest events. On high bar I could do giants and would get rips on my hands, which would stay on my hands for about a month. On rings I could do double back flips onto the ground and land it with not a lot of trouble. On vault I could do a suke. (Basically a round-off backflip onto the ground from the vault.) On P-bars I could do a kip and stay on without flying off and hurting myself. Finally on pommel I could do hip circles while traveling. I don’t consider pommel as a strong suit for me at all. In short I was able to make progress on every event. However this progress came at an extensive cost.

After about 8 years in doing gymnastics, I quit. I started wanting to do it for fun, but the coaches wanted me there at all hours of the week and were trying to catch me up to all the other kids who did this professionally. I wasn’t enjoying going nine hours a week, three hours a day, and then not gaining anything from it. When I quit my dad nagged about it constantly wanting me to join to get some of my physical strength back. Me quitting gymnastics caused a lot of my strength to disappear and I got out of shape. (Compared to what shape I was in before.) Overall I don’t regret my decision to quit. Part of me still wishes I was in it still because of how much I enjoyed it, but the other part of me is saying I love not having to deal with the coaches.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
